The class will experiment with writing techniques, reading strategies and public speaking. ~I hope you will enjoy the material we cover and let your creativity shine!~
Class Themes: This class will explore the following themes in literature and other materials: childhood and innocence, family and peer relationships, school and education, wonder and imagination, and triumphs and defeats.
Class Components: Reading: Students will be exposed to a variety of different reading materials this semester. Students will experience new perspective and improve their reading comprehension. Writing: Students will experiment with different writing formats and improve their understanding of writing mechanics. Speaking: Students will have the opportunity to express your opinions by speaking to the class. Students will also practice speaking in small group settings. Viewing: Students will visually process material to gain new ideas or further their understanding of reading material. Representing: Students will have the opportunity to interpret and present classroom material in a unique and creative way.
Materials: Students need to keep their notes together in a binder or notebook and bring them to class everyday. Make sure to have extra loose leaf and a couple of pens or pencils with you each time you come to class. ~Please let me know if you would like to bring any extra materials to assist in your own learning (for example spell checkers, laptops, dictionaries).~
Expectations: Students will demonstrate mature behaviour and display respect to their peers, teachers, and materials. Students will take ownership and accountability for their learning, which requires them to stay organized, hand in assignments on time, and participate in classroom activities.
